IRONMAN BRAZIL

What an opportunity to combine a spectacular holiday with your next Ironman. The 2011 Ironman Brazil race will take place on May 29th.

Under the natural beauty and climate of the Florianopolis magical island, just an hour flight away from Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo City, this Ironman event has been organized by Latin Sports since 2001.

Ironman Brazil has seen an exponential growth from the 250 competitors in 2000 to almost 1,000 over the last few years and there is no end in sight to just how large this spectacular Ironman will grow in future years.

The race's reinforcement in the international circuit may be proved by the fact that most of the athletes come from abroad.

I think many triathletes have come to realize that Ironman Brazil is a great place to holiday before and after their Ironman.

The Brasil Telecom Ironman Triathlon Florianopolis course is fast, scenic, and safe.

The ocean swim is beach-protected, so there is virtually no chop. The two-lap triangular swim course will be wetsuit legal for age-group triathletes, and also for pros as well, if water temperatures are measured at 22 degrees C or lower on race day.

The bike course starts from the transition area at Jurere Beach, and is fast on good, mostly flat road surfaces with a couple of "decent" hills.

The out-and-back run course will be completely illuminated and in an open-air mall near the central transition area.

Both the transition and finish area are near a water park and good shopping, so your loved ones will have something to do while you're busy putting in your hours on the course.

Here is the contact information for this Ironman if you would like more information or perhaps try and get yourself a spot for the May 29, 2011 race.

You can contact CCO through the e-mail address cco@ironmanbrasil.com.br or by telephone 55 48 3209 1844.

Ray,

"I just completed my first Ironman in St. George, UT. Your book, Ironstruck - 500 Ironman Questions and Answers, was invaluable in preparing me to get to the finish line. I didn't get any surprises during the race, thanks to the info you provided in your book.

Also, your advice about pushing big gears over the tops of hills to gain more speed going down was spot on. I made the bike cut-off in large part to this advice.

Thanks again for a great book and insight!"

hi Ray,

"About 5 years ago just moved from Holland to SA Port Elizabeth I was a spectator of Ironman SA and said to myself I want to do such an event myself onetime.Looking for more info I came across Ironstruck and had a lot of pleasure in reading your stories and I want to compliment you the way you describe these. I also wrote you an email asking you some questions and got response. I know its years ago but I just want to tell you that this year I finished the 70.3 East London 7.10 hrs and Ironman SA 13:10 hrs.And will do it next year again and 12.5 hrs will be my goal.rgds Cees"
