Ironman-Brazil. A great choice for your first Ironman

If you want the perfect location and race for your first Ironman, give this race serious consideration. Of course from North America it can be costly, but much like hawaii, you can make a holiday out of it as well.

The course itself also seems to suit the first time Ironman. The swim is protected so the water will not be rough. The course is a two-loop triangle. Race organisers are allowing age-groupers to wear wetsuits.

The bike course is safe and relatively flat with some challenging hills.

The run is much the same and very scenic.

The transition area is well spotted near a water-park and shopping area, so family and friends will have lots to occupy them while you are out on the course.

The Ironman-Brazil Telecom race takes place on Florianapolis Island. Just one hour flight from Rio de Janeiro and San Paulo city.

The 2006 version will take place on Sunday, May 28 and the final day for registration is May 1, 2006.

The 2005 version had 1,172 entries and the 2006 race is limited to 1200 entries. Most ironman races increase in size every year until they finally fill on a regular basis. You will have extra time to enter Ironman-Brazil, but don't leave it too long.
