IRONMAN CANADA 2010

Ironman Canada 2010 is already pretty well at capacity as usual and most likely another Penticton Ironman Triathlon will feature over 2500 entries. The above picture is of Skaha Lake and the Ironman Canada run course is on the far side.

Another edition of Ironman Canada has come and gone as the competitors of 2009 faced smoke from lingering forest fires, wind, and of course heat.

As if the Ironman Canada bike course isn't challenging enough on a good day! Once again anticipation is building for hundreds of first time Ironmen as they will be training hard all winter and have plans to take a run at the oldest Ironman on the North American Continent on the last Sunday of August 2010.

As in past years, part of the bike course and most of the marathon will take place on the far shore of Skaha Lake when Ironman Canada 2010 takes place.

Many, many Ironstruck people have left their hearts, souls, power-gels, and energy bars along this stretch of Ironman highway as they rounded Skaha on the way back into Penticton toward the finish line.

If you are reading this page and it's August 2010, I sure hope you are in taper mode and your long rides and runs are over with.

Remember doing big distances will do you little good at this point. The endurance you have now is what you will have on race day. Your most important consideration now is to rest, plan your journey to Penticton, and read a copy of "Ironstruck...The Ironman Triathlon Journey".

No kidding.....Just go to my bookstore link below and get the download. It will help get you in the right mental and emotional space and like it has for many others, will help you realize your Ironman dream.

Regardless, I wish you well especially if this is your first Ironman.

Be sure to come by and say hello. I will be doing book-signings at Coles Cherry Lane on Monday and The Book Shop beside Tim Horton's on Main Street from Tuesday to Saturday of Ironman Week.

--Ironstruck Ray

It will be no surprise to see around 2600 entries at the swim start for Ironman Canada 2010. Foreign entries will most likely include visitors from a few dozen counties....

The Penticton Ironman triathlon is a favorite destination for triathletes around the world.

ironman-canada-2010

Aspiring Ironmen from the U.S., U.K, Mexico, Japan, Australia and New Zealand will travel to Penticton at the end of August 2010 to take on the oldest and most loved Ironman races in the world.

Other countries from all over the world will send representatives as well. Then of course there will be entries from across Canada. They will represent major cities, towns, and villages from every nook and cranny of the country.

Alberta always has several hundred entries in Penticton

And how about my home province of Alberta? It's not unusual to see close to 400 Albertans entered in Ironman Canada every year.

Calgary leads the charge to the Ironman Canada finish line and normally sends an average of 250 entries to Penticton in any given year to take up the Ironman challenge.

Drop by one of my book signings on Main Street in 2010.

Once again I plan on being present on Main Street in Penticton as the 2010 race doing book signings at the Book Store beside Tim Horton's and most likely at Cherry Lane Mall (Coles) as well.

I have just released my latest book "TRIATHLETE IN TRANSITION" for the very beginner triathlete so come by and say hello during Ironman Canada 2010 and pick up a copy for that special someone you know who might love to take up this amazing sport and attempt their first triathlon.

Regardless, if you plan on being in Penticton for Ironman Canada 2010 and we can talk Ironman talk. There's no better place to be doing that than the home of the oldest Ironman race on the North American Continent.

This is the latest news I could find regarding entries for the 2010 edition of Ironman Canada in Penticton.

However I will leave it up so you will have the list here for next year in the event you are looking for a qualifying race for 2011. I will enter in the new dates for next year when they are available.

If you have never been to the Great White North Triathlon in Stoney Plain Alberta you would most likely really enjoy it. Wade Church and his army of volunteers put on a great event and normally Wade has quite a few qualiying spots for IMC available.

I hope this has cleared up the Ironman Canada 2010 entry process for you.

Yes, I know it is a very difficult race to get into, but then the experience is more than worth it and people from around the world come back again and again.

Keep in mind that if you are a foreign contestant that it "MAY" be possible to contact the race office "directly" in Penticton B.C. and find yourself a spot. It's worth a try and the number is listed on the IMC page.

I wish you the best of luck in finding your way into Ironman Canada, the oldest and most loved race on the North American Continent.

You can expect to find me in Penticton doing IRONSTRUCK book signings on Ironman week on Main Street at the Book Store beside Tim Horton's.

Volunteers are always welcome at Ironman Canada.

If you are in Penticton cheering someone on, or on holidays, or perhaps just trying to decide if you want to enter yourself one day down the road, then why not consider volunteering on Ironman Canada 2010 race day?

There 's nothing more inspiring than being up close and personal with the action on Ironman day.

If you happen to be in the area the week prior to Ironman Canada 2010, you might want to take in the Kelowna Apple Triathlon and see some of the countries best up and coming national class triathletes in action. Normally it takes place the weekend before Ironman Canada.

IRONSTRUCK BOOKS...click on any book to visit my Ironstruck book store

I have written three books that all serve a specific purpose when it comes to those new to the sport of triathlon or those who perhaps have the Ironman on their mind.

"Ironstruck...The Ironman Triathlon Journey" is a perfect book for those who have the Ironman on their mind and perhaps need some motivation, inspiration, and encouragement to help them make that final decision to challenge the Ironman and make it to the finish line.

"Ironstruck? 500 Ironman Triathlon Questions and Answers" is most like the only Q+A book in the world on the subject of triathlon in general and the Ironman.

This is the perfect book for the triathlete who has decided to take on the Ironman for the first time, or perhaps has done one or two and would like some insight from a different point of view.

It is a great companion book for "Ironstruck...The Ironman Journey" and the pair of books would make a great gift.

"Triathlete in Transition" is a book that was inspired by all the people who would stop by at my Ironstruck book signings and suggest I write a book for the very beginner triathlete who just wanted to know more about the sport.

I suppose because I had this passion for the Ironman that it seemed natural to write about it first almost six years ago now.

So in effect I have gone from the most difficult and challenging of triathlons and ended up at the beginning of the triathlon journey.

Triathlete in transition is full of information about how to get started in the sport and like my Ironstruck books, are inspirational and motivational as well as full of practical advice on triathlon that make the sport much more enjoyable.

Regardless, now I have three books that cover the full range of triathlon from just learning about triathlon in general, to ultimately reaching the Ironman finish line.

THIS IS WHAT A FEW PEOPLE HAD TO SAY ABOUT MY BOOKS

**** "I wrote to you sometime last year, when I was debating whether or not to use a mountain bike for my first attempt at Ironman. You wrote a both sensible and encouraging reply.

In the end, I opted to purchase a road bike. I've forwarded you the story of how my race went, but most of all I wanted to say thanks again for your book Ironstruck, which I read and re-read a bunch of times, and which was by far my favorite of all of the half dozen or so I read during the course of my training."

All the best,Eric

**** "Totally enjoyed the Ironstruck book,it is definitely one of the better books on the market, and I totally agree in the swim concept of relaxing and of also taking your time in transition.

I'm certain that everyone who reads your book feels as I do, but most people do not take or find the time to express themselves. This is where I excel.

What I love most about your book is that it spoke to ME. It was not geared for IRONMAN finishers. It was for people like me that are on the fence of whether or not we could actually attain such an enormous feat. It's for the majority of us... It's for the people that are looking for something to change their life in so many ways on so many levels.

Your book is a blessing and my Bible. I read it constantly. Italready looks like it has been around for decades... It's bent;dog-eared to death; written in all over; highlighted; and has a few food stains in it as I was always eating or snacking while reading it... I love my "Ironstruck" book, and I plan to promote it amongst my friends; Tri club; and anyone who wants to become IRONSTRUCK!!!"

Much gratitude & respect, Jill

**** "I spoke to you several weeks ago. I bought your book and it was atremendous helper. You were also kind enough to give me some personal advice and coaching. I am proud to say that I AM AN IRONMAN!!! I did it!

Thanks a lot! For the last 18 miles (which in lake placid are all uphill)I kept repeating what you said,"I can do this" I did it man! Thanks for everything! I crossed the finish line at 15 hrs and 55min! Not the best time, but I could care less, I AM AN IRONMAN!!!! Thanks For everything, You really helped me and your book was invaluable!"

**** "I'm sure you get thousands of emails...especially after publishing your ironstruck book but I wanted to email you and thank you for all the great advise I got from your website, from your emails (that you answered so promptly) and from your book. I just completed my first ironman CDA on June 24th.

It was every bit the experience you talked about in your book...from the excitement of just making it to the "big day" to the pain, suffering and triumph of the swim, bike and run to the euphoric feeling of hearing that announcer say "YOU ARE AN IRON MAN!"

It truly is something I will never forget. Although I didn't break any speed records I completed the ironman in 14 hours and 35 minutes which was a lot faster than I anticipated I would finish. I attribute that to heeding some very well given advice :)Thanks so much for your amazing book."
